Hello dear friend,
In this Blog post, I want to tell you about my Halloween Spider and how I came up with the idea of turning his boots into fun Halloween keychains.
A few years ago, I designed a pretty unusual Halloween Spider. It wasn’t scary at all, but rather very cute. My Spider pattern was a real hit at the time and ended up being one of my most popular designs. The main highlight of him was his… boots. All six boots were different and represented some popular Halloween characters – Pumpkin, Zombie, Lucifer, Witch, Bat, and Skeleton, so each boot unexpectedly became an individual character.

I couldn’t just leave these boots as part of the Spider, because they definitely deserved their own attention. So I turned them into funny spooky keychains! I had this idea four years ago, but I wasn’t sure if it would work, so I only made a Pumpkin boot keychain. But now I’ve decided that there’s no room for doubts, and I must finish what I started! So, meet the Halloween boot keychains! Pumpkin, Zombie, Lucifer, Witch, Bat, and Skeleton.

Crochet patterns for all six Halloween Boot Keychains are also ready and available in my shop. But if you want to buy a few boot keychains, you should take a look at my Halloween Spider pattern – it contains descriptions of all six boots, and I’ve also added instructions on how to turn the boots into keychains.
You can find my Halloween Spider pattern here in my shop, and all six Halloween Boot Keychains here in Halloween patterns section.
But that’s not all! If you bought my Halloween Spider pattern a while back and don’t have the new add-on yet, just check out the free add-on instructions on how to make Boot keychains out of Spider’s boots below on this page.
Happy crocheting!

How to make Invisible Fasten Off
PLEASE NOTE: work in continuous rounds using a stitch marker at the beginning of the round unless otherwise specified. This pattern is meant for an intermediate skill level. Please make sure you already have the necessary crochet skills, as this pattern does not include crocheting lessons.

INSTRUCTIONS
Option 1. Flat
Make the selected boot with the leg according to its description on pages 10-11 of the Halloween Spider pattern, but finish crocheting the leg after round 20.
Stuff the leg. Check the position of the last crocheted stitch: it should be directly on the right side of the leg, when the front of the boot is facing forward, as shown in the photo below. If you’re off, add or undo one or more sc as needed.
Flatten the leg opening and make 3 sc + 1 sl st through both sides. Fasten off, weave in the yarn end, see photos below.

Option 2. Round
Make the selected boot with the leg according to its description on pages 10-11 of the Halloween Spider pattern, but finish crocheting the leg after round 19.
Don’t cut the yarn. Set the boot aside for a while.
Leg «flap»
Make a separate piece that will cover the leg opening. It will be a leg «flap».
In light gray yarn (or in red yarn if you want the leg to look more spooky).
Rnd 1: start 9 sc in a magic ring [9]
Make an additional 1 sl st. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for tightening, see photo below.

Take the boot again and continue closing the leg. Apply the flap to the top of the leg with the wrong side facing the leg, leaving the remaining yarn tail of the flap outside, see photo below.
Make 9 sc through the stitches of both pieces together. Fasten off invisibly, weave in the yarn end of the leg, see photos below.
Insert the remaining yarn tail of the flap into a tapestry needle. Then, using the needle, pull the yarn tail through the leg and boot from the center of the flap, and bring it out through the center of the bootsole. Pull this yarn tail firmly to draw the flap of the leg inward and lift the edge of the leg up. Fasten off and weave in the yarn end, see photos below.
Once the boot is fully assembled, attach the keyring to the top of the leg.

Next, continue making the boot according to its description on pages 12-22 of the Halloween Spider pattern.
Final step. Once the boot is fully assembled, attach the keyring to the top of the leg. Done!

Congratulations, your Halloween Boot Keychain is ready!
Hope you had fun making this cute accessory. Now you can hang it on your backpack or bag, attach it as a spooky keychain to your keys, or give it as a gift to your loved ones!
Enjoy and have a lovely Day!
