Are you looking for a cute tropical fruit as a keychain, an educational toy for the child, or a small gift for your loved ones? You’ve found it! This lovely pineapple will definitely make you smile 🙂 And its chenille version also feels so nice in your hands. So let’s make it!
This pattern includes two instructions for crocheting a pineapple – with sport weight yarn and with chenille super bulky yarn. The instructions for some rounds and for leaves differ slightly due to the characteristics of chenille yarn. You can choose one of the versions or crochet both.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
PINEAPPLE
(sport weight version)
In green yarn. Stuff as you go.
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: work in BLO, 6 inc [12]
Now, you need to change the color of the yarn and the size of the crochet hook.
Continue working with two yarns held together, one in yellow and one in light yellow (see photos below).

Use a crochet hook that is approximately twice as thick as the one used for the first two rounds (I used a 1.5 mm crochet hook for rounds 1-2 and a 3.0 mm hook for rounds 3-14).
Rnd 3: work in BLO, (1 sc, inc)*6 times [18]

Rnd 4: 1 sc, inc, (2 sc, inc)*5 times, 1 sc [24]
Rnds 5-12 (8 rounds): 24 sc [24]
If you want to give your pineapple a face using safety eyes, insert them between rounds 9 and 10 with 4 stitches apart (see the photo below).
Rnd 13: 1 sc, dec, (2 sc, dec)*5 times, 1 sc [18]
Rnd 14: (1 sc, dec)*6 times [12]
Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the remaining stitches using a tapestry needle and pull it tight to close. Weave in the yarn end.

Leaves
In green yarn. First, work through the remaining loops between rounds 1 and 2.
Insert the hook into the first remaining loop of the round, pull up a loop (see the photo below).
Make three leaves along the round by repeating the steps in square brackets three times:
[ch 6, work along the chain – skip 1st ch from the hook, 1 sc, 4 hdc, skip the next one loop of the round, insert the hook into the 2nd loop, make 1 sl st] (see photos below)
Make the last sl st into the loop, from which you started making the first leaf in this round (see the photo below).

Now, continue working through the remaining loops between rounds 2 and 3.
Insert the hook into the first remaining loop of the round, pull up a loop (see the photo below).
Make six leaves along the round by repeating the steps in square brackets six times:
[ch 5, work along the chain – skip 1st ch from the hook, 1 sc, 3 hdc, skip the next one loop of the round, insert the hook into the 2nd loop, make 1 sl st] (see photos below)
Make the last sl st into the loop, from which you started making the first leaf in this round. Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends (see photos below).

Embroider a smile using black embroidery thread. Your cute pineapple is ready!
